We're BACK!!!
Just in time for the holidays! We have posted hazards to your loved ones during the holidays on our information board in our lobby. Here are a few you will find on there: Onions, chocolate, grapes, fatty foods. Also keep a close eye on your meowing fur-babies as they love to play with tinsel, ribbons and other dangling decorations. These are the most common types of foreign bodies during the holiday season. Stay tuned for more information!

I Love Animals
We are ready to begin this new way to communicate with you.
1. Do you have a beloved furry friend who is part of your family?
2. Would you be interested in developing an on-going relationship with your veterinarian and animal hospital through social media, events and activities created just for you?
3. Did you ever want to be a veterinarian?
4. Have you ever toured a 24-hour animal hospital?
5. Would you like to enter contests to win gifts or services for your pet?
6. Have you ever recommend veterinary care or products to your friends?
7. Do you have questions for veterinary professionals?
Please give us you ideas. This could be fun!

Social Media
Hello, everyone! We here at AAC want to connect to our clients - current and potential - in any way we can, so we have been busy updating our "connectedness" in the virtual world.
Right now we are connected to such websites as:
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/media/albums/?id=70955323073#!/pages/Advanced-Animal-Care/70955323073
Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/24houranimals
YouTube: (please bear with us as this profile is still a work in progress) http://www.youtube.com/animals24hours
Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/24houranimals
Pintrest: http://pintrest.com/24houranimals
Blogger (obviously): http://24houranimals.blogspot.com
Google+: https://plus.google.com/109424363959869462374
...and the list will continue to grow before the end of April! We will update that list once it's reached its peak. As a company, we long to get our name out there for you guys to see. We want you to know that we're here for you if and when you should need us.
When we say we're open 24 hours, we mean it. That's not just an available username! Our office is staffed 24/7 because we realize that the four-legged members of your family do not get sick during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday only. Things happen at 2 a.m.; we know this. And we are here to help.
That is one reason why our social media presence is so important. Yes, it benefits us (as it does all businesses), but it benefits you even more! We would like to keep you informed about the best care for your pet while also showing you the work we do in stories such as Taylor Leigh's - see the previous blog entry if you haven't read it already.
The goal of this blog is really to give you insider tips. Use the comments section below as a way to pick the brains of the doctors and technicians. When we have a special event going on, we'll post details about it here. For instance, February was Dental Month for your dog. Unfortunately, we did not develop this blog in time to get the word out about dental hygiene, but next February, you can bet we will!
We also like to hold contests and give out free care packages for your pets. Typically, those are hosted on Facebook, but we may try to experiment with putting the details on here for you. And, of course, we all love those good stories about the incredible will of our pets, so those will always be posted here.
Currently, we're working on a few major projects to give you some great insight into what we do at Advanced Animal Care. Be sure to check us out on YouTube (the link is above) within the next week for a virtual tour of our facility. In the future, we'll be posting other videos on our channel, but that's the big one for now!
Also, keep looking for links to this blog. We want to inform you of the operations at AAC, so we'll be posting a number of blogs in the next month. For those of you interested in working at an animal hospital - be it as a doctor or technician - we have an internship program that we'll be telling you about very soon.
Finally, we know how important a personable business is to you. That's why we've reached out across so many networks to get to you! But we also recognize that you may want to know just who it is caring for your babies when they need us. So we'll also be collecting information about our doctors and technicians to post in a series of blogs that we'll call "Meet Our Family." All of this is coming very soon, so keep checking on us!
We are very excited about all these new opportunities that technology has provided us, and we hope you are, too! If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact us in whatever way is comfortable to you: social media, telephone, or even in person.
So be sure to "Like" us on Facebook; "Follow" us on Twitter, Pintrest, Flickr, and Blogger; "Subscribe" to us on YouTube; and "+1" us on Google+ for the most in "connectedness." And, look! Some of the buttons to those sites are already below for your convenience. We love to hear from you and we hope you'll find our other social networking sites worthwhile.

Taylor Leigh: A Puppy's Story
I was one sick puppy when I got to Advanced where Dr. Allison Tevis diagnosed me with Parvovirus. Parvo is a very contagious disease that affects puppies who have not been vaccinated for it. Sometimes you will not even know your puppy has it until they have severe vomiting or diarrhea that can quickly lead to dehydration. It's sad to think that too many puppies don't survive this disease.
As for me, I was not quite that severe, but I would have been if I hand't been treated in time. Treatment for Parvo can be very expensive, though, and not everyone can afford it. So Dr. Tevis called a wonderful woman named Brenda Kelly who drove straight to the hospital and took responsibility for me! Ms. Brenda works for a rescue group called Cairn Rescue USA. As you can guess, they specialize in dogs and puppies like me...and Toto! =-)
My treatment started right away and it included intense, constant care. I had to stay in isolation so not other dogs risked getting sick, too. But, don't worry, I wasn't alone; the doctors and technicians at Advanced were there with me to help push me through it. For a while, though, I was too sick to sit up and pay much attention to them.
It took a few days, but I began to recover. I found I could eat a little, and, as I got better, I was able to stand and wag my tail!
While I was sick, Ms. Brenda raised more than enough money for my care in the first 24 hours after she met me! How did she do it? Well, Ms. Brenda confesses that she's a good beggar, but I know it's really because she knows lots of good, caring people. Plus, she loves us and she would do anything to help us get treated. People from all over the world donated online to help me. No kidding! And because Cairn Rescue USA is a non-profit organization, any extra money they get from fundraising goes right back to help other dogs and puppies in need! Isn't that great?
Well, after the amazing doctors and veterinary technicians made me better, Ms. Brenda found me a foster home. It's really great! I'm living with this nice couple named Bill and Julie Hatfield. They were very patient and dedicated to taking care of me while I was getting better. There were lots of medicines to take, and I couldn't play with their other dogs--even though I wanted to so bad. But it's all okay now as we have lots of fun together!
One day, when I'm strong enough to be on my own, I'll go to my "fur-ever" home. Ms. Brenda and the Hatfields say that it's hard to let foster puppies like me go, but they know we'll all be okay because we have a new start on life!
Mrs. Martin, one of the owners of Advanced Animal Care, says that if everybody does a little to help out, puppies like me can be saved and given a fresh start. That is so true!
I'm so thankful for the doctors and everyone at Advanced Animal Care. If they hadn't been open 24 hours, I might not have gotten my treatment. And I'm so thankful for Ms. Brenda and Cairn Rescue USA for coming to my rescue and finding me a good home with the Hatfields!
